The nicest thing in the world is knowing someone cares.

We read a story with the kids called “Have you filled a bucket today?” to help teach them the importance of making people feel good, and how showing kindness to others fills their imaginary “bucket”. We reiterate this lesson often, sharing with them when they have done something that fills our bucket, in hopes of impressing upon them how good it feels to make others happy. Giving them a visual explanation for the warm and fuzzy feeling.

It’s hard to write this post, as I get choked up when I think about the support and love we have felt from family and friends this past week.

A few times, after days full of visits, check -ins and chats, Scott has said to me how amazed he is with how everyone has rallied around him. He’s so appreciative, so touched. Without a doubt all this love is lifting him up, and keeping his spirits high and his thoughts positive. Being in a position to need to turn away visitors is an incredible gift. One that we are all so very grateful for. I told him it is a testament to the person he is that so many people care so deeply about him and his recovery. It is literally amazing, that I can’t think of one person that isn’t in his corner.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. For the prayers, calls, visits, text messages, cards, casseroles, babysitting, dog walking, coffees, hugs, chemo care packages and genuine “if you need anything, I’m here” offers of help.

During a time of uncertainty and fear, you have all managed to fill our buckets.

  1. Great to see the blog so we can follow Scott’s journey. We were shocked to hear the news and are thinking about him a lot. We know that he will fight the fight of his life and beat this thing. All the best.
