In the interest of keeping this space honest, I will share that this was not an easy day for Scott.
His sleep last night was interrupted often and he started the day with a fever. Antibiotics and platelets were administered, and additional testing was done to figure out if the fever was being caused by an infection. The private room he was told would be his this afternoon, ended up being reassigned to a new patient and the chemo is starting to take its toll on his body. Just an ick day. Expected, but nevertheless unwelcome. The doctor said today that boredom is the number one side effect of chemotherapy… I can see that.
However, all these symptoms mean the chemo is working – it’s breaking him down, but he will rebuild. The fever is not a symptom of an infection and his chest X-ray came back clear. Just all part of the process. And as far as boredom goes, there’s always Netflix.
