Thanks to everyone for checking in on Scott and his GI discomfort 🙂
He had a good day today. Started off with a walk around the hospital, doddled around his room for a while and had an ultrasound done this morning.
Tests revealed that his rash and skin irritations aren’t a symptom of anything serious, and his PICC line is functioning properly again.
He’s tired this evening, and just laying low, but the pain from yesterday has passed.
Interesting thing we learned from Nurse Kristine today…
A pimple appears when a follicle has bacteria trapped in it and creates a bump in the skin. For a person with a healthy immune system, this bacteria will be swarmed by white blood cells that want to attack the infection and push it out of the body. The rapidly multiplying white blood cells that attack harmful bacteria are called neutrophils, and will eventually accumulate and die, and become “pus”.
Since his neutrophil counts are basically non existent right now, if he had a pimple it would not form a white head. It would just stay a red, possibly painful bump.
Learning something new every day!

Thanks for keeping us updated. Our best wishes are with you guys.Better days ahead.
