CT scan was clear

Kristine just shared that Scott’s CT scan was clear, and there is no indication of a serious infection. Big sigh of relief!

The rash and fever will continue to be monitored, but the infectious disease team is thinking they are likely a reaction to the antibiotic “vancomycin” referred to as “red man syndrome”. When the ‘vanco’ is administered quickly in high doses it can trigger the rash. The nurse will slow down the next dose and see if that helps, and if not then change drugs.

Scotts biopsy will take place closer to day 28, at which time more information will be available in the sample. Apparently Juravinski is one of the last hospitals to take Day 14 samples and Scott is the first patient to be treated under the new rules. No bigs, just trailblazing over here.
