8/12 doses done.

Over half way through reinduction, Scott is feeling “good” and still staying positive. With some chemo experience under his belt, he was able to anticipate and avoid some ill side effects this time. For example, he had awful cramping on a day that he skipped two meals and won’t be doing that again. Some fibre packed muffins from a friend will help keep him regular as well.

On that note, some thing troubling him right now is the absence of symptoms. He’s out of bed all day, has an appetite and isn’t in any pain. Normally this would be good, but with heavy doses of poison going through his system, and one round of unsuccessful (for lack of a better word) chemo behind him, sickness and pain would be comforting. Pain would mean something is happening. Pain would mean his body is being pummelled and that his cancer cells are being abolished. That the chemo is working this time. The anxiety similar to that of a newly pregnant mama waiting for morning sickness, to reassure her that her pregnancy is real and the baby is growing.

However, Dr. L confirmed that there is no direct correlation between the presence of side effects and the effectiveness of chemo. Though, she did admit that if a patient is in the midst of an extremely rough chemo treatment she wouldn’t discourage them from thinking that it was working harder for them. And just like that pregnant mama, when the sickness or discomfort comes on, Scott may look back and wish he had just kept his mouth shut.

Because the chemo is working and he’ll be in remission soon.
