Scott was so happy to walk in the front door of our home on Tuesday, and has been savouring each day out of the hospital before treatment resumes. There has definitely been a readjustment period... Not having the security of a nurse checking his vitals every four hours making sure he doesn't have a temperature… Continue reading Hurry up and wait.
Month: January 2016
It’s (still) looking a lot like Christmas.
When it became a reality that Scott would be in hospital over Christmas this year, it was really easy to leave the house undecorated, change radio stations to avoid carols and remain completely un- festive with 14 degree temps and sterile hospital surroundings leading up to the big day. I do love the holidays, but… Continue reading It’s (still) looking a lot like Christmas.
Furlough
Scott is home for a week on Juravinski furlough. Yipppeeeee! Turns out 1.0 neuts did the trick. Another biopsy handled like a pro, and another impressed medical team. There is no denying he has strong bones, making sample extraction tougher for the one performing the procedure. This sample was much redder than the last, and… Continue reading Furlough
It’s a be-neut-iful day for a biopsy
Scott's Neupogen injection did the trick last night and his neuts rocketed to 1.0 this morning! He's scheduled for another couple shots if needed, so let's home for a trend overnight. Biopsy will happen this morning, and then we wait for results.
Anxiously waiting
We just finished up a meeting with Kristine, to regroup after her time off. Since Scott's stubborn neuts are still at .2 the plan is for him to receive the Neupogen injection later today to get those guys moving. If his team sees an upward trend happening over the next couple of days, then he… Continue reading Anxiously waiting
.2 and holding
No change in the neuts since yesterday, and the injection will be held off for a little bit while the doctors wait and see how they improve on their own. We're waiting to meet with Kristine tomorrow to find out when Scott's biopsy will happen over the next couple days. Hoping sooner than later. Whatever… Continue reading .2 and holding
Oh hey neut
Scotts up to .2 neuts today - and hopefully after his injection tonight he'll be high enough to come home in a couple days. Stable neuts will also mean he doesn't need to have antibiotics - another plus of these little guys making an appearance.
Can anyone around spare some neuts?
No movement on the neut front this morning so tomorrow Dr. L is going to give Scott an injection that should help encourage their regrowth. Now that he has this .5 goal in his mind in order to go home for at least a few days, the results of his morning blood tests are especially… Continue reading Can anyone around spare some neuts?
If the mountain won’t come to Mohammed
Ringing in 2016 with pad Thai and sparkling water in the common room. Proof that good friends can make a fun night out of even a crappy situation. And that its ok if the party shuts down at 9pm. Oh - and though he can't drink craft (unpasteurized) beer while immunosuppressed Scott's appetite for his… Continue reading If the mountain won’t come to Mohammed
