As I shared earlier, Dr. L. confirmed that a transplant would occur in the near future, and that given the results from Jeff that it will likely happen in April. An exact date hasn’t been nailed down yet as it will depend on bed availability.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t realize until recently during a conversation with Kristine, that remission is as delicate as it is. That the chemo, shortly following reinduction, is needed to keep him in remission. I guess I just thought of it as icing on the treatment cake. That info rattled me a bit.
So its a good thing Scott finished up consolidation round #1 last Thursday 🙂
It was a very different process this time. First off, he’s been at home and just went into the hospital overnight for doses (6 in total). He had some buddies help out with drives up the mountain and I picked him up in the morning. He was in, did his thing, and was out. Sooo much better. For the most part he left after bedtime and was home the next day before the kids were out of school. They didn’t skip a beat which was so refreshing.
Since Thursday he has been feeling OK. Not great, but certainly nothing worth mentioning compared to reinduction. He had an appointment yesterday, where we learned that his platelets were super low (at 7, compared to 300+ when he was discharged), which meant a platelet transfusion before we left. He needs to stay very alert to his temperature, because as his neuts decrease again he’s more likely to spike a fever which means he needs to go to the hospital.
Life in casa Rogers is pretty unpredictable, even though it appears to be a bit more calm than normal, having Scott home when we’re (attempting) to go about our routines is a bit weird. We don’t know what to expect with Scott (fever/hospital) and without a concrete transplant date we’re back to playing the waiting game.
With another appointment tomorrow, Scott will likely need a transfusion of red blood…. Let’s just say he’s not winning a rosy cheek contest today.

Thinking of your family often….sending tight hugs your way XO
