Checking out the new neighbours

Just when we were thinking consolidation round 1 was going to pass without giving him any serious trouble…..

Scott was admitted yesterday morning because his temperature was above 38 degrees (a fever) and that’s a sign of an infection that needs attention. Doctors kept reminding us that about half of all patients get a fever and need to come back, and not to be surprised. Once his counts were down he would be vulnerable.

Juravinski didn’t haven’t any beds available so he was given the option of going up the street to the new OT for treatment. Go to the brand new hospital that’s a 10 min walk away….OK fine.

They confirmed he had a fever, and started him on antibiotics and took a load of blood for testing. Until the results come back, he’s in isolation and visitors need to gown and mask up. He’s feeling pretty worn down, the fever is bothersome, and a small mass on his knee is uncomfortable, but otherwise ok. Waiting for the drugs to kick in to start feeling better. He won’t be released until he has been fever free for 48 hours and his counts come back up.

Not to worry, Scott is quite content watching Family Feud in his private new room with flat screens and windows, a pullout couch and a desk. It’s not home, but it does have room service.
