Silver Fox

We’re at day 26 and Scott is feeling much better. It took longer than we expected for him to rebound from consolidation – and low counts and need for transfusions concerned us. Dr. L reminded us, yet again, that we don’t need to stress out and the quick recovery from reinduction was definitely not typical, and a slower return to normal is usually expected. It’s just SO hard to not over analyze every reaction/symptom/count – especially as transplant draws near and Scott getting and staying healthy is so important.

But he hasn’t needed any transfusions since last week and the infection in his knee is nearly healed. Tomorrow he has an appointment with Dr.L, and if his counts are high enough, she will perform his fourth bone marrow biopsy.

Next week he will begin a series of prepatory tests, mostly to provide baseline results for the transplant team to refer to during the process.

In other news, Scott is sporting quite a different look these days. His hair is growing back but it’s very fine and mostly white/grey. His head feels like a baby kitten and he is definitely pulling it off. Though he will lose all his hair again after radiation/chemo, this is a look he should consider for the summer!

People think that we are smarter with a touch of the “gray” Scott.
