Kristine has declared that Scott has engrafted! After three days with a level of 0.4, yesterday his neuts were 0.5, which indicates that the donor cells have found their way to the narrow and have started produce more stem cells. Huzzah! Always up for a challenge, I’m not surprised Scott made this happen on the early side of the spectrum. This is great news, because it is possible to have difficulties engrafting, and it’s a relief knowing he has reached this next milestone, ahead of the average.
His mouth is feeling better each day, and slowly he will start trying to eat solid food again and get more exercise. Hopefully his feeding tube can come out on Monday. He’s motivated, so I can’t see why that would be delayed.
With 0.5 neuts he is now allowed to leave his room, provided he wears a mask at all times. Though his hospital room is nice, it’s going to feel so good for him to get out and about, even just to the common room or seating area at the windows.
