Well, this is familiar territory. Due to a potential infection, Scott has been put in isolation today, which means that everyone that comes into the room needs to wear a beautiful butter yellow gown and mask. When Scott experiences GI disturbances, his team needs to make sure something more serious isn’t going on, and while he is especially vulnerable, that no additional germs threaten him.
He’s having a rough go, feeling run-down and home-sick after a night spent tossing and turning with little sleep. Without the energy to go for his usual strolls around the ward, he is feeling antsy in his room. Routine is a wonderful thing, but the repetitive hospital schedule is draining for him.
Unfortunately because Harrison is under the weather at home, the kiddos are unable to come along with me for a visit, which is a shame because they really are the best distraction. It is not fun telling your 8-year old that they need to break a football date with their Daddy, after not seeing each other for 10 days, but Harrison does get it. He knows we need to keep Daddy healthy by not spreading germs. As expected, Scott isn’t feeling as up to the many video calls, and when he doesn’t answer, Mallory-Jane assures everyone that Daddy is sleeping and we need to give him time to rest. Mama MJ.
Right now Scott is enjoying popsicles, ginger ale and fruit cups as he figures out what he can eat that goes well with chemo-mouth. If you’re looking to visit, just send him a text and he will be honest if he’s up for it. Though calls/texts/emails may go unanswered, they are received and always appreciated.
He’s looking forward to a visit from friends this afternoon, and watching some football.

Thanks for the updates Hailey – you write so well. I think you have clearly discovered a new career path! We continue to think of you all and keep Scott in our thoughts and prayers – we remain optimistic. The football will be a good distraction – much better than the Leafs these past few games. Love, Bruce and Cam

Hailey, unfortunately Stuntman Stu, radio personality who I believe Scott connected with just learned his leukaemia has returned. Scott and Stu were diagnosed about the same time, went through similar treatments, and relapsed at the same time. Maybe they could connect again.
