For twenty years, Scott has only let one person cut his hair. Theresa has been his stylist since he was a youngster, and so it was only fitting that she be the one to shave his locks off today. I may be biased but this handsome fella is definitely pulling off the buzz. Thanks… Continue reading A long standing appointment
Day 13
I haven't posted an update in a couple of days because between chemo ending and tests tomorrow Scott has just been dealing with the effects of the treatment. His hair is really starting to fall out, which he's unfazed by, but it's annoying for him as it sheds onto his pillows and floor. He has… Continue reading Day 13
Joy
Two little people brought so much joy into their daddy's day today. Just a short visit, a couple proud walks around the ward and a snack of Popsicles but Scott was thrilled. Their energy is infectious, and that's one thing he's happy to catch. The kids were very excited to bring their own mini bottles… Continue reading Joy
Fun fact and a better day
Thanks to everyone for checking in on Scott and his GI discomfort 🙂 He had a good day today. Started off with a walk around the hospital, doddled around his room for a while and had an ultrasound done this morning. Tests revealed that his rash and skin irritations aren't a symptom of anything serious,… Continue reading Fun fact and a better day
Bottoming out (apparently)
So we were warned before chemo started that it wouldn't be a cake walk, and until today Scott thought he was getting off pretty easily. Turns out after the tap is turned off is when the meds really do their damage. Though his fever is at bay, Scott will need to be on regular antibiotics… Continue reading Bottoming out (apparently)
Band-Aid flex
Team flu shots today to keep our house as healthy as possible for when Daddy comes home.
Day 7
If you're looking for Scott he is now comfortably set up in room 26, progressing through his last bag of induction chemo, which will be done mid afternoon. He's been in hospital for 13 days now, and its hard to believe it's been that brief. So much has happened, so quickly, and as he nears… Continue reading Day 7
A new day
Though it's a rainy day in Hamilton, Scott woke up this morning after a good sleep in brighter spirits. He'll be put on his last bag of chemo this aft, and is looking forward to being disconnected from Betsy soon. Grey skies and drizzle - a perfect day for some football.
Meh.
In the interest of keeping this space honest, I will share that this was not an easy day for Scott. His sleep last night was interrupted often and he started the day with a fever. Antibiotics and platelets were administered, and additional testing was done to figure out if the fever was being caused by… Continue reading Meh.
Great news and a change of address
Today Dr. Lepic shared that preliminary cytogenetic testing has given a negative result for Scott being a "high risk" AML patient. There is a scale of low-intermediate-high risk, which determines how likely a patient will achieve complete remission, and determines how treatment plans continue after this induction phase. This news is very encouraging. Dr. Lepic… Continue reading Great news and a change of address
