Just kidding?

Not sure if the universe just wants to keep us all on our toes, or what, but the transplant is back on!

Jeff had a bone marrow biopsy this morning and additional blood samples taken, which were expedited quickly and returned completely normal results. Whatever characteristics were present on Saturday, are no longer there and concerns over his suitability as a donor and his potential to produce enough stem cells are removed. His body has reacted very well to the initial dose of Neupogen received on Saturday and the whole team is confident in moving forward. Though they have each said how unexplainable the whole situation is.

I was given a bracelet from a few women that Scott went to grade school with – though I have never met them. Embossed on a thin silver bangle are the words “choose joy. choose hope. choose love”. I have worn it every day since, as a reminder to stay positive and focused on the good. These last few days have been uncertain. We have felt frustrated that just when we thought the course was laid out and Scott was embarking on the next step as planned, we were thrown another curve ball. But yesterday, amid fears for his brother and disappointment over the delay, Scott was still smiling and hopeful, reassuring everyone that we’re still in the safe zone for timing even if it were to happen a month from now. We’re joyful today for many reasons… For Scott and Jeff, and that some new fears can be abandoned. And no matter what, scared/sad/frustrated/anxious, we will always remember all the love we share and that we have surrounding us.

Chemo resumes today, radiation tomorrow and transplant on Friday.

Just a bump in the road. Game on.
